I should check and see if they have one at CC Military yet. That would be a good gun for close quarters combat.

CC Military is a great place for woodsball equipment. If they don't have one in stock I know they will get it in for you.

This pictures is way old! Back when they first open up. Back before they took over the other part of the building. This is maybe 1/50 of the paintball items they have now.

Definitely, Darrin!

If you haven't stopped in there before, you ought to. CC Military Surplus really is your one-stop shop for scenario gear!

I think the SP1 would have been better if they left the double trigger like on the Vibe (Smart Parts other new gun that the SP1 is based off of).

They did that with the SP8, so why not?

I'd be tempted by it, except for I have more gear than I need as it is.

i'm willing to bet that the trigger frames can switch or they will put out the optinal part

Pretty sure the single trigger is one way to help keep ROF down. As I understand it SP is calling this marker N2 or Co2 ready out of the box...So how do you keep liquid out od the noid?
Slow down the ROF.

I like the SP-1 for its "take it apart and put inside something else-ability"
The board does not hang down into the gripframe as far as an ION does, makes me think it would fit in a ruger 10/22 stock.

The video explains what they were thinking by CO2/HPA. They put in some sort of "relief valve" that claims to vent, preventing liquid from getting to the gun. No clue if that even works or not, I'd just as soon recommend anyone using one to use HPA.

I think they call the Vibe CO2 and HPA ready out of the box, and it's identical to this gun (minus the rails/appearance, and the already mentioned trigger).

The relief valve is part of the regulator. When liquid gets past the regulator seat and experiences the very low pressure there, it boils, causing the usual pressure spike. The relief valve vents most of the excess pressure.

At least, that's the "word on the street". It's not like I've taken one apart. Yet. devil:)

I've not had the privilege of taking apart a Palmer Stabilizer either, but they apparently do the same thing.

I'd like to think SP had to license that "technology" from Glenn Palmer, but that's just dumb hope.

They actually have an "infosheet" which talks about CO2:

http://www.smartparts.com/Manuals/gases_infosheet.pdf

I'll probably be sued silly for posting this, but here goes:

If liquid CO2 gets into your marker, the relief valve in the Max-Flo R vertical regulator will protect it from pressure spikes as the liquid evaporates into gas. Although liquid CO2 will not damage the marker, it may cause it to stop operating momentarily.

And they've posted the Max-Flo R owner's manual (http://www.smartparts.com/Manuals/Max-Flo_R.pdf), which shows the Relief Valve assembly, and whets the ol' tinkering appetite a little.

Why does it have to be made by Smart Parts?! :(

Don't buy into all the hype. It may be hard to believe but Smart Parts has done a lot for paintball. I have use their products since 1993.

Well it sure is styled after the way I have been playing lately, small/compact, liteweight, nice for a onepoint sling. Just one thing though, I wonder if I told them to keep all those rails, I could get it for a hundred bucks. Thats like putting a scope, a red-dot and a bi-pod on a Uzi.:D/AKA

I tend to keep out of "paintball company politics" for lack of a better term. Since you've been around a lot longer than I have, for curiousity's sake may I ask when all the anti-SP stuff started? I'm aware of some of the cases why (lawsuits against AKA, ICD, and AGD), but when did this start?

My take on "paintball politics" is simple... every big company is out to make a profit, and given a fair shot of suing another and winning, they would. Doesn't make it right, but no company is clean in this (with the exception of smaller companies such as PPS or CCI). Thus, my solution is to just "support" the company that produces the best product (the one that works best for me) at the best price.

Check into the Vibe. Same internals, none of the rails, and at cheaper ($130 if I recall correctly).

Sorry. I wasn't trying to be offensive, I just love the sport and am a little worried about the way the wind's blowing these days. :o

From what I'm reading, a lot of the aftermarket Ion parts will work on the SP-1 and Vibe. Bolts and other internals are nearly identical. Boards are obviously totally different.

...I wonder if I told them to keep all those rails, I could get it for a hundred bucks. ...

This guy (http://worldoftb.com/index.php?blog=1&m=2007&w=43) is sponsored by Smart Parts and has done a review and a little disassembly. It looks to me like most of the rails can be removed. (I know your ears are sensitive AKA, so be warned there's a little "adult language" in this guy's writing. :) )

I shot a tank at World Cup down to nothing, it was frozen over, the gun froze then in about 5 seconds, it went right back to firing with no issues. I even got to see the CO2 burns on Darryl Trents and Adam Gardner's arms from shooting CO2 down to the frozen over liquid state and the marker still performed with no issues.I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of those SP-1 or Vibe regs as people upgrade...
