They will be doing a round robin format where each team plays each other. The teams with the most points at the end will go into the finals. Or at least that's my understanding of what's going on.

How will this event be scheduled?

If it draws 6+ teams and is played per the SPPL rules, won't team have a 3+ hr wait in b/t matches?

Thalion
10-15-2008, 07:58 PM
I'd guess that two fields might be used to cut down on time if there is enough staff for it.

I just did the math -- if there's 7 teams (for example) and it's Round Robin, then that's 21 games which comes to 21 total hours, not counting halftimes.

Two simultaneous game and ideal planning cuts it to 10 hours, three games at a time makes it doable in 7 hours.

This was a crazy event and I think both the referee's and Teams learned a lot about the SPPL format today. I know I do.

All teams played all of their games. 3 games each. The top 6 placing are based on the teams total scores after they played their three games in compliance SPPL scoring.

First Place - Wild Bunch - 427 points
Second Place - Air Assault - 392 points
Third Palace - Aces High - 333 points
Forth Place - Pelican Brigade - 276 points
Fifth Place - St. Croix Minutemen - 129 points
Sixth Place - Woodland Security - 84 points

Big thanks to all of the teams that came out!!

As Captain of Woodland Security I have to say this is nothing
my Squad has ever done before.we are a bigger scenario setup
team and the fast pace,Agressive game is where we need some
improvement. This tourney was an eye opener to me and my guys.
We will be revamping our strategies for a more agressive game
next summer. This includes recruting one or two highschool
track stars.lol(Aces high's strategy)lol.

Game 1 (field 1)
Wild bunch/Woodland Security
To be honest, great group of guys. I instill in my guys to present
Humility,respect and fareplay.Wild Bunch posses these atributes.They
come across a little cocky at times tho, LOL. After the tourney they
have the right to be a little cocky.Good Job Guys!!!!!

Game 2 (Field 2)
Aces High\Woodland Security
Aces High Comander came up to me and introduced himself before the
game. those little things impress me. Field 2 was a hard field. It was
apparent that Aces High had some runners. the first half opened my eyes
on how our US War hero's felt at the Battle of the Bulge or D-day.
We fought hard but it wasn't working. We were sitting ducks.
all the canisters were on the hill.If you didn't get the hill you
were doomed. On the walk back I had a few guys from aces high ask if I needed
help carrying my gear.I refused, but like I said earlier.the little things
impress me.

Game 3 (field 1)
Air Assault/Woodland Security
to star off, my guys had the far field base on field 2 at the end of game 2.We had
to hoof it to our tent .refill air and paint and try and get a sandwich down in
10 minutes. We made it in time but were exausted. The first half we struggled but
we had fun. between the second half troubled me. To the guy who asked my xo (Ish)
to forfit the second half so we could get rest and they could save thier paint, I say
"Thankyou" that was the boost my squad needed. half way through the second half they
had to take a penalty to have a total restart. We swarmed the field
I did come behind one guy on his belly . I was about 15 feet away.I respectably shot him
in the pod pack and yelled your out. guess what I got in return of being respectfull and
not shooting him in the butt.(No pun intended Joker) He rolled over and lit me up.

congrats to Joker for not swaring all day , on and off the field!!!!!LOL

In all it was a tuff but fun game.

Refs/

Good Job Guys,Well organized for the time you had to prepare.
Sorry for shooting you Nate.lol

We did come in last but I am the proudest Captain. My guys faught hard and We all left winners.Altho we did have a few vocal outburst penaties. We are human. We learned alot and will adjust to this format next year and hopefully be a strong contender next season.

Very glad you had a good time krutsie. It means a lot to refs to have players thank us for our job. Thanks to all the players who came out and played stand up paintball all day. I was head ref for field two and honestly ya my field was very hard to play if you fell behind. We learned a lot of things that is for sure.

My team (minutemen) had a lot of the same issues. we had played all the same teams but only on field 2. it was really tough. our final game was against wild bunch, and we were able to gain an upper hand off the bat and take out most the team, and i was really proud of my team, but in the end they pushed us all the way back. Being that we have quite a few young guys and have only officially been a team for about a week, the aggressive teams gave us real problems, but by the end of the day we learned A LOT!

thankyou to all the other teams for being good sports! the attitude was great yesterday.

we cant wait for the next tourney! look out because we will be prepared!!recon:)

That was one of the most unique experiences I've had in paintball! I wish we could have had a chance to play Woodland Security and the Minutemen.

Sincere thanks to Darrin and the refs for putting it together.

Next time, we'll have to be a little more "restrained" in our intra-team communication. quiet:)

Air Assault had a great time.

Thanks to Darrin and all that put it together.

FYI: We had to take the -10 restart against Woodland Security because our deadbox ref's radio was off and the game started we had our goggles off smoking and eating snacks. No joke.

The PBPBC also had a Great time giving the Team play an effort for education. We normally play as indeviduals or pairs unless Darrin puts us in a fort to see how long we can hold it against 100 attackers. So we also learned alot about Team play and what makes up a good hard playing machine of Ballers. I opted to play commander all day, basicly staying back gaurding our Base at watching our players play thier hearts out for the Club. We had to play Wild Bunch with 8 players and did very well against them in my opinion. We even took thier Base. We were able to add two young and fairly new to paintball, members for our second Game against Air Assault. But those young muscle bound youngsters were very fast and very well trained for us to assemble a defence against them. But our team played them hard and played them well.
In our third Game against our Rivals;) Aces High We saw what it was like to play a Team that was down a few players, but they gave us a Great Battle for control none the less.recon:)
We too had some penalty point problems, I guess when your being attacked without much time to think, you tend to forget things that would help you be, perfect.
Well I'm glad we got that done and outta the way, now I just want to go back to just playing WoodsBall.:)
Thanks for the chance to play in a tourny like this Darrin, and thanks to all the people you employ for these types of things. I know they had thier hands full Sunday with all of us there and probably one of the biggest open day play I've seen out there.;)
Also thanks for some Great Games to the Teams we played and Congrats to the top Three.:character0095:/AKA

A big thank you to Splat-Tag for putting this on and thank you to all the teams that were able to commit on short notice. We had a blast trying a new format and thought that it was pretty well run other then a couple of snafoos. Field 1 was great and I think you should leave it set up that way for regular sppl type games. I hope to see a event like this next year.
