Oklahoma D-Day in Wyandotte, OK http://www.ddayadventurepark.com/
I went in 2006 and 2007 but I think I want to try something new in 2008. I did have fun both years I went but was not happy with the HP Air in 2007. That is not why I am not going back in 2008. Just time for something new.
My Oklahoma DDAY Video 2007 :character00128: Yes I know that I have posted it everwhere. :rolleye0018:

Thanks for the compliment Darrin, but i am only as good as the men i lead. I am colonel and XO of the 716th this year and we are looking for more good men, women and teams. if you or anyone you know has questions and/or would like more info about OK DDay, they can contact me. the division i am a part of has 3 distinct areas of responsibility this year, with a regiment dedicated to each. we would like to see our division full.

The German 716th Infantry is seeking more players, both individuals and teams.
If you are interested in going to D-Day and wish to play for the winning side this June, shoot mustangman or myself a PM. We need to fill our positions.
Never been to D-Day? No problem at all, we can answer any questions and get you up to speed on the event.

Custar over on MCB is saying that there will be an all-female unit in the Wehrmacht for D-Day.
With as easily as we men are led around by our... uh, appreciation of women, I think this will help recruitment. :)
I really, really want to go to this (and not just to see the Valkyries). There's a little bit of me that really likes being German and this sounds like a heck of a lot of fun.

Just a friendly reminder to make sure you have those registrations in before April 1st to avoid a cost increase.
You need not preorder paint.
After you've registered for the 716th at the D-Day Webpage (http://www.ddayadventurepark.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1&Itemid=4), be sure to send a PM to myself or Mustangman and check into the 716th ID forum/webpage (link found in my signature).
We'd like to see as many Minnesota players as possible in this unit, and you're guaranteed to not be stuck in a boat landing (but you may, depending on assignment, get to shoot the guys in the boat)

Wait... so does that mean you will be defending the beach:?!?!?!?!!?
Some of the 716th will be at Sword Beach, others will be at Caen Village, and others yet have other assignments.
So, yes and no. I personally will not be at the beach, but some 716th will.
There are 3 regiments in the 716th. If you prefer not to defend the beach, join the 736th or 737th regiments (735th is on beach duty).

I have been looking at the D-Day site and on the event schedule link, its saying that at 1000-2200 on friday 13th, there is a required safety tape viewing? So if my buddy registers online and shows up on Saturday can he not participate because he did not attend the viewing? I did not see any where on the site that you have to watch this thing...
Please let give my any info you can on the matter...

Correct. The "safety tape" is basically their orientation as well as safety information. Most of it is common sense, some of it is event rules. I assume that they show it for some insurance reasons (perhaps Mustangman can shed some better light on this?)
The "safety tape" is also shown Monday-Thursday if I remember correctly.

Well one of my guys won't be able to go because of that... He will have just started at Target Headquarters that week and there is no way he would be able to get any time off. Why can't the show that at like 4 in the morning of Saturday!
There has to be a way around this give in the circumstances, I mean on there end, they are basically refusing money. At a business stand point it doesnt make to much sense. They must be letting people on the day of, its hard to believe that there is over 4,000 EXTREMELY organized paintball players.

odds are Mayhem, that if your friend can't amke it to orientation at 10pm the night before the game, he won't make it to the game. both sides begin taking the field at around 7 am. also, there is absolutely no way around this rule, he will have to go thru OT before he can play. it is the ONLY way to recieve your hopper cover, which is essentially what gives you access to the field of play.to play in the game you Must be on site by friday. sorry, no exceptions. if you have more questions feel free to pm me and we can discuss this off the board.

I am still looking for more troops. the 716th is the Largest field command on either side and we have over 200 slots to fill. we currently have a decent number either registered or committed, but we need more. we face some of the best that the Allies have to offer, in the Commonwealth and in the Airborne. they are telling us that we don't stand a chance. I want to prove them wrong. if you like to fight surrounded, outnumbered and outgunned, then you need to contact me soon.

No, seriously. It's fine. We've been welcoming anyone with interest, followed shortly by pressuring them into registration.
We need to get this unit filled up, and we'd rather do it with local players we know than to go grab them from around the nation (or even the world in the case of a few international players that come play).

Man would I love to sit there with the twins and rain paint for 2 hours. My pocket book cant afford that. In a perfect world where money ment nothing 10+ cases of paint, and enough air to back that up. How much freaking fun would that be. dribble:)

02-16-2008, 08:23 AM
yeah, but you would only need like 3 cases of paint. you arent' the only one that would have a heavy weapon there. I know that the commander of that regiment has his own heavy weapons he is bringing. plus a few other guys as well. and it's not that expensive to go if you can get a few people to go with you. last yr I took a total of 12 people and including food and fuel we all anly had to contribute $225 plus registration (70) and paint ( 65 a case). so if you bring your whole team, should be able to bring the cost down for all of you:D. besides, good teammates would donate some paint for the heavy weapon. i know we had over 1500 rds given to our guy last year. just from other people who know the benefits of the heavy gunner.

Agh! I know, I know... I'm a chump.
I did not know that you guys were all in one unit until it was too late.
Matt? If I could I would, man... I'd feel pretty bad backing out on the 502 right now... (they are really counting on me to be there).
If I get treated bad, and have a horrible time, then karma is knocking at my door saying that I should have gone German.
If I can go next year I will ABSOLUTELY go German.

This means if you have not registered yet, you can still join the 716th. It's not too late, so let's see some more registrations.

Nope. As soon as you registered, you were committing to the beach.
That's where we need the bulk of our force, so that's where people are going until that starts to fill up.

Marnius, I talked with JR a little bit last night and you will be assigned to my regiment, not cause I don't want you on the beach, but because you have some familiarity with the Sentinels and with me. don't worry, we will have way more targets than the beach anyway and you will have more freedom of movement with my guys.
marnius
04-04-2008, 01:09 PM
Yay =D lol I love freedom to move, dont get me wrong, sitting in a nice bunker in a target rich enviroment is great, but I dont want to be there all day (Cause yes, if I was there, they would never take the beach XD)

Hello fellas,
I'm going on my third year playin, and I'm headed to OK this year. This will be my first game larger than D-Day at Buffalo, so I guess I'd like to know anything you guys have to offer as far as getting signed up, or tricks of the trade.
I'm a safety conscious adult looking for similar players to play and/or travel with.
Thanks for any and all info.

Well, i was looking at my book collection today, and since i got my registration card i was going to look up the 716th in them. And sure enough i found some info on it. (P.S anything i said bad about the 716th, even jokingly, i take back)
i was reading about the 716th infantry division online, and it sounds like they had a very proud history... laughing:)
acording to the "D-Day Experiance", by Richard Holmes. The 716th had to hold five beaches on D-day, Omaha, Pointe Du Hoc, Sword, Juno, and Gold.
On Omaha, they fought (6:30 AM)
2nd/3rd Battalions 16th infantry Regiment
1st/2nd Battalions of 116th Infantry Regiment
Combined total = 34,250 men first wave
716th induced casulties of around 3,000 kia, wia, and mia
Pointe Du hoc, they fought (6:30 AM)
D, E, and F companies 2nd Ranger Battalion
Combined total = 225 in first wave
716th induced casulties of around 135 (by June 8th) kia, wia, and mia
[COLOR="yellow"]On Gold, they fought (7:25 AM)
1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment
1st Battalion Dorset Regiment
5th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment
6th Battalion The Green Howards
Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (DD-tanks)
4th/7th Dragoon Guards (DD-tanks)
Combined total=24,970 men first wave
716th induced casulties of around 400 kia, wia, and mia
On Juno, they fought (7:45 AM)
The Royal Winnipeg Rifles
The Regina Rifle Regiment
The Queens Own Rifles of Canada Regiment
North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment
6th Canadian Armoured Regiment (DD-tanks)
10th Canadian Armoured Regiment (DD-tanks)
Combined total = 21,500 men first wave
716th induced casulties of around 1000 kia, wia, and mia
On Sword, they fought (7:25 AM)
1st South Lancashire Regiment
2nd East Yorkshire Regiment
13th/18th Hussars (DD-tanks)
Combined total = 28,845 men first wave
716th induced casulties of around 630 kia, wia, and mia
All of these beaches span a width of 76,900 yards
So that makes a combined assault of men of around 109,790men
and they inflicked 5,165 casulties
They Built over 50 Hard fighting implacements for the coming invasion also.
and all this with only 6 Battalions or 7,771 men....
So it seems to me that a static division (by no means a great division) made up of older fellas and Ost Battalions (Other National Volunteers) was able to hold so much with so little.
So remember this boys down at D-Day when you are watching the allies walk up the beach, remember you have it easy, the odds are much better in our favor, lets not let them down!
Here to Put it all in perspective for you,
frycook

I've got a just a little bit of time before last call to choose your regiment from what I hear, I may just plop down my 70$ on the off chance I'll be able to make it.
But I'd probably have to drive down on Monday and back on Friday so really only 3-4 good days of playing. Any chance of Wifi down there? Like if I had to actually work a little bit during the week :)

No chance of wifi on the D-Day premesis.
If you find a hotel in a nearby town, you might be able to find some. I say might because it's small-town, middle of nowhere USA.

Probably no power either? Cell coverage? If I had power and cell coverage I could actually get OK cellular wifi and even share it with others. I'll check the 3G coverage maps, I doubt its in the area but worth looking.
How far in is the town? I assume I could figure something out even if I had to leave for a couple of hours each day to "work".

Power comes from bringing a generator. Cell service is iffy, but I got some signal in some parts of the premesis with AT&T/Cingular.

I'd guess 25-30 minutes or so to Grove. I don't know the distance to Joplin or Neosho (spelling?), but those are other closer town options.

IMHO opinion, it would not be worth the $70 and the 12 hour driveto play 3 or 4 three hour games and then go home before the big game on Sat. Last year I had Alltel nationwide service and had 3-4 bars at all times.

From personal GBG experience, if 600 players make that much radio traffic... imagine 4000. It's going to be near impossible to actually make heads or tails of anything but the higher officer channels outside FRS/GMRS range. I may very well not even mess with a radio.

Just as an afterthought, does D-Day have a lot of burs and things, becuase the field I play at has a fair amount so I never really do any ambush/hiding type attacks. If I had remembered from last year that splat tag didnt have many burs I wouldve worn some more camo stuff. I sortve want to bring some ghillie-ish stuff for D-Day for ambushes and sneaking and such.

I just got this in an email from D-Day Adventure Park, and thought you guys might enjoy this:
Motion Picture Principals from America and China met on the studios of Paramount to work on the first joint USA/China production, A Journey of 10,000 Miles. Now they return for a new challenge, The Paintball Kid. From left to right: Producer, Jack Woo; Shanghai Film Studios Executive, James Zhong; American Associate Producer, Ian Jones; International Production Coordinator, Stephen Ho; Writer/Director, Warren Chaney; Chinese Ministry of Travel, Hu Wang Jin; Production Management, Barbara Evans, and Executive Producer, Sir Michael Tielmann.
The Paintball Kid TM, is a coming of age action/adventure epic that will be filmed in exotic locations worldwide from the US and Canada to China. Oklahoma D-Day Adventure Park, world's largest paintball field, will be the anchor battle ground for action/stunt filming and other paintball fields are in process to be selected as well. It marks the first joint American/Chinese effort employing paintball as the theme in a major motion picture. Shanghai Film Studios will serve as the principle studio overseas while studios in Hollywood, Houston and Dallas, Texas will be used for principal photography in the US and Canada.
The Paintball game industry, serves as background for the film’s story. Arrangement is currently being made to film on location at major paintball events throughout the world. The film’s story occurs within the context of
actual scenario and tournament games that are on-going. The Paintball Kid TM, is expected to draw enormous attention to one of the world’s fast growing sports.
Leading and major supporting actors are being cast out of Hollywood. However, one of the leading roles and several supporting roles will be selected from real paintball players. All paintball scenario and tournament
players are eligible for casting and are encouraged to follow the event broadcasts, pending announcement of casting.
Remember to smile for the camera when you're down there! beret:)

The Sentinels will be showing up Wed. afternoon/evening around 4-5ish, then you'll see us around Thurs-Sat, leaving Sunday morning. I'll be there with the full arsenal, because after Viper I don't want to repeat that incident (only brought two markers, the one I was using busted a part, requiring 2 hours off the field to hike back to camp, tear open the gun, find the replacement parts needed, and fix it, while the second one was found to be leaking air on me).
I'm debating shopping for a standard pod pack because I'd imagine a vest is going to be unbearably warm in 100*+ weather. I'm planning on carrying my hydration bladder into the field, and it has its own pack, so I won't need the vest bladder pouch, or any of the pouches for storing anything but paint really.
Is this really worth investing in just a pod pack, and where do I find a pod pack for a (really) big guy?

Anyone bringing grenades? I was thinking of making some home-made (like mom used to make but without the bleach/ammonia cocktail).
Is it worth it?

I'm not certain they will allow homemade grenades because of safety issues. That also might be code for, "You gotta buy grenades and hopefully buy them from us." Before you undertake such a venture, it might be worth you while to find out for sure if they'll accept the do-it-yourself kind. beret:)

and Tim, yes the flurry vests are unbearably hot in OK. i had one my first year down there and was miserable on the field. there will be several vendors with podpacks available I am sure.

Are the PVC mines shown on the Axis Command website usable? And I'm pretty sure my SO Sabre vest will be fine heat-wise, because its more like a harness then a vest, but does anyone have any experience with one in 100+ weather?

Maybe my vest would be ok then. My PCS vest has a similar design to the SO broadsword in terms of construction underneath the pouches.
Either way, I already figured out a pod pack, and it'll probably be simpler for the game.

I either installed them wrong or got the wrong ones, so i ordered a different set and they should be here thursday. So as of right now i will be rocking the stock class phantom. I will be either leaving as soon as i get out of drill sunday or early morning monday if anyone wants to tag along the company would be welcome.

What kind of paint have you been using, and what size is your barrel. If you've been using Nalsplat paint, theres your problem. Worst stuff ever. If youve had a lot of breaks in your barrel, you should check out this thread, its very helpful:http://www.x7og.net/barrels-paint/2351-list-bore-sizes.html

I envy getting to leave that early. I got to last year when I was working at the event, but I didn't get that choice this time.
Sounds like Brian (mn-sniper of Mn RAT for those who remember him, he's without internet at the moment) will be traveling alone with his vehicle following mine. If anyone from the Cities hasn't gotten a ride down there, he's already on-board and coming. Between him and I, we can grab a few more seats.

Let's see...
Loved the mini-game I got to play in (minus JackRock's extreme flank maneuver -- halfway through it we found some field way out of play, to which JackRock observed his compass was not functioning, but in less polite language). Plenty of fun out in the field.
I hated Saturday morning. There were so many problems going on (don't want to sound like I'm calling people out, but let's just say a good number of the enemy players I encountered in the morning did not play by the rules or spirit of the game). The morning was also when I had that not-so-great encounter with our rocky paths, resulting in injury.
Things turned around for me Saturday afternoon. I hung out primarily at Coleville and Omaha after my injury, contributing to the fights present there. The players I ran into became more stand-up in those areas, which helped alleviate some of the complaints from the morning.
In summary? The Sentinels will definetly return for the German army for '09, but we're not dead-set on a unit yet. I loved working with most of my MN colleagues all in the same unit, but I'd like to know if/how some of the morning issues will be addressed by the field staff and how we will deal with it before we commit to the same role as before.
Please note that in no way am I trying to demean anyone of the 716th, you are all fine officers and players, and a positive force for the German army and all paintball players alike. I am grateful that I was allowed the privilege to work with all of you. I am just particularly sore at some of the allied forces and would like to see the issue addressed before I go back to the same exact situation.
FEAR THE TREES!
Thanks to all who helped make this possible,

well, after having a couple of days to recouperate, here is my take on the day.
We( Working Class Heroes, Sentinels, and a few others) started the game south of Caen village. as we erected hasty defensive positions, the Commonwealth troops inserted into the game thru our lines.they started the game 50 yards in front of us. It was our 28 guys against about 70-80 CW at game on. we held for as long as we could, but the sheer numbers overwhelmed us.
we were re-inserted at Sword Beach and immediately tried to get back into Caen. The sheer number of troops and tanks the allies had in the area was just too much for us to handle. it was estimated a 4-1 advantage for the 716th to try and take on. we almost made it on one of our objectives, Sword Beach. We held Sword til about 10 minutes before time was up, but they rolled 3 tanks thru and decimated my troops.
The call went out to retreat to Colleville and to set up a better defensive perimeter. As we made our way to C'ville a call went out for reinforcements at Utah Beach, so a large portion of the 716th went to the rescue. we got there just in the nick of time, as the Allies were making a huge push for the flag.
After being shot out we returned to Colleville to be told that we needed to help hold the wall at Omaha beach. we held it long enough, to earn all the points for Omaha this year. for the rest of the day it was largely a game of take and hold Colleville, of which I am proud to say, that the Working Class Heroes and other elements of the 716th were first over the wall every time.
This is a VERY brief description and overview of everything that happened on the field at DDay this year. if anyone would like a better play-by-play, please feel free to contact my via phone.

Just wanted to post a quick thank you to Mustang for your inspiring words before game on, your leadership on the field, and for getting my award when I was stupid and thought they must be talking about some other ninja.
And a big thank you and congratulations to the 716th! We hit all three beaches, there was never a place when I was lost when I didn't hear a reply to our battlecry (we were EVERYWHERE!), and for creating fear in even the refs. Seriously, at the final battle of Colleville, the refs yelled "Fear the trees!" and dove for cover.

I had a blast at OK D-Day. Your a great leader mustangman, it was a pleasure serving under your command! It was a good group.
The 716th was everywhere and no where. Despite the controversial start, we came through and kicked *&^ and took names all day long.
Lots of good stories; especially using a "stock class" phantom all day. I had alot of fun and it was a pleasure beating the allies back to the beaches!

well, the recruiting has begun folks. I will be an Axis general next year. assignment will come shortly. as I have said all along though, I would rather play alongside my MN and WI bretheren and lose , than play Allied any day. so if you haven't been to OK DDay, find someone who went this year and ask them what they thought. then come talk to me. I am looking for the hardest playing ballers we can find. we had around 25-30 MN ballers this year, let's double that for next year.
