The Original Minnesota vs Wisconsin big game has grown to Great Lake Crusaders vs the Midwest Alliance
www.GiantGame.com (http://www.giantgame.com/)
The year is now 2023 - six years have passed since Minnesota and Wisconsin border skirmishes escalated into all out war between the two states to protect their natural resources and production facilities which they utilize to trade with other parts of the disbanded United States of America for resources they cannot secure on their own.
Many large and potentially decisive battles have been fought over the past six years. However, neither state can hold onto the enemy territory for long due to supply lines being cut from reserve military forces in both states. These battles of attrition take their tolls the most during the winter months when supplies are in dire need to keep troops warm and fed during unnaturally cold weather due to the post-nuclear strike environment.
Each spring and summer sees renewed activity from both sides of the conflict as the warmer weather lends itself to extended military operations. With that being said, extensive resources have been exhausted over the years due to this conflict.
Neighboring states to the south (Iowa and Missouri) and to the west of stalwart Minnesota (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Montana) have sent troops and resources to aid The Midwest Alliance in the upcoming battles due to the limited trading agreements in place prior to all out war breaking out over the boarder conflicts.
The staunch defenders of Wisconsin have called in assistance from what is left of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. These states fight under the banner of The Great Lakes Crusaders (GLC for short). The faster response times due to proximity of these states bodes well for Wisconsin, as they can call in additional support troops much quicker than Minnesota.
The Southern states are involved in conflicts of their own and have yet to throw in with either side of this Northern East/West war beyond roving mercenary/rogue military groups heading north that will fight on the side of the highest bidder for food, shelter and of course fuel/ammo. These roving mercenary/rogue military groups are becoming much more valuable as combat age populations are not being replaced at the rates they are being eliminated due to radiation sickness and conflict.
The question begs to be asked – can either The Midwest Alliance or The Great Lakes Crusaders strike such a decisive victory that they can take over an entire state and hold it? With forces bolstered on each side with fresh troops and renewed supplies, our epic story of survival and post-apocalyptic conflict continues to unfold.
Now the time has arrived to pick a side and grab your trusty paintball gun so you can march off to battle with your fellow soldiers. In the trenches, and through the woods you will watch each other’s backs and defend your positions whatever the cost may be. For failure to do so is not an option…Victory awaits the bold and the daring. TO BATTLE!
It all started In the year 2017 - Four years after a massive asteroid collided with earth, destroying the entire eastern seaboard, eliminating our federal government, crippling our economy, and throwing the entire world into the chaos of a nuclear winter. The United States Federal Government was officially disbanded and governing responsibilities where handed down to the state & local level governments. Tensions rose as the remaining states in the former U.S. sealed their borders, organized their own military forces, and shored up their defenses to protect their natural resources and ensure the safety of their citizens.

I'll come if they make the urban reisertion further south so it isn't a Turkey shoot! Just kidding,, you know I'll be there!
Boundary is being moved into Urban and walls will line the Boundary that can only be used by Inserting players. Plus refs will have the power to bomb Urban every 10 minutes if players have a hard time Inserting there.
Helicopter will not be to the left and the tape will cut down sooner to make the corner out of play.

After Dreadwood is finished, any chance that we could get to see a map of next May's game field?

MOG+gimpy SY + ISH = total domination!:D:D:D
Wouldn't have it any other way!
Are you going up this year ISH? Would love to play on your side!
We will keep teams together.
Asking all teams to help balance themselves out on both teams.
Splat Tag sponsored teams will more moved around as well to balance GBG teams.
With the Old Story line being Red Minnesota and Blue Wisconsin we find most players are from the MN Twin Cities area and still want to be on the Red GBG team.
Teams now switch sides of the playing course at lunch so there is no field advantage.
Always looking for more players and teams to step up and play for the Great Lake Crusaders Blue side.
Splat Tag will make sure player count and organized teams are balanced for both sides. Yes we move teams from one side to the other side almost every GIANT BIG GAME if that is what it takes to balance teams.
Scenario/Story line:
In the year 2017 there are a number of independent groups that will fight for the highest bidder.
Plans are underway for second large castle to be built in the middle of the open area by the first Evil Tower of the GBG Spring course. This Castle will have three story tower. This will be the craziest structure ever built in the 11 years of the GIANT BIG GAME!!
The Helicopter and boundaries will be move in on the South side of the GBG course by Urban.
Cars and Trucks will be added as bunkers.
Also want everyone to remember Splat Tag is having free camping and a Night Game the night before the GBG. Night Game is May 5th from 8pm to 11pm. Players can register Saturday for the GBG.
Splat Tag is having a barbeque Sat night with games, prizes and free food and soda.

Darrin, we have a large 10'x40' (or two 10'x20') double deck exhibiting structure at my work that they've been trying to unload for a few years. Steel and aluminum construction with stairs. I put in a note to our ops manager last week to see if they just want to unload it since it hasn't sold, they have a pending buyer, if it falls through I let them know this would make a great paintball bunker or field observation deck for a local field (Splat Tag).
For bunkers you could clad it with plywood, but I thought it would make a killer observation deck for the urban field. I'll inquire again to see if it sold.

Darren will have to confirm but the MWA General "Senator" who was (is) Woodland Security is now on Mayhem/Wild Bunch. Which makes me assume that Mayhem/Wild Bunch will for sure be MWA.
Off topic but does anyone know how much gold each team starts off with? For some reason 10,000 is the number that pops into my head
Sponsored teams will not know what team they are on until the day of the event. Darrin does this to help balance the teams.

For any who have never come out to this game it is an awesome day. Players of all abilities come from all over for one huge battle. If you are a first time player or play every weekend or have not played in years this is the game to come to. More Field, more surprises, more players, more prizes.

I would like to echo Chunk's thoughts. My first Giant Big Game (GBG) was where I really fell in love with scenario paintball. As is the case with any GBG, the majority of the players are walk-ons, ranging from small groups of friends to single players who want to see what it's all about.
GBGs offer an experience unmatched throughout the rest of the season, the chance to play on an enormous field alongside and against hundreds of players. The nearly unrivaled scope and scale of the day make for fantastic paintball battles and incredible memories.
I think I can safely speak for my opposing general Eric McClure when I say that, above all, our goal is to create a game that is fun, involves every player that takes the time to get out on the field, and one that breathes excitement into the already adrenaline-filled sport that is paintball; in the end, leaving players hungry for the next GBG.
So please, tell everyone that you know, regardless of their experience with paintball, and help us spread the word, via Facebook, Twitter, and however you communicate with your friends, about this awesome game.
While I would love to see you in Red as part of the Midwest Alliance, what's most important is that you come out and bring your friends to share in the fun. The Saturday night game is now just 19 days away, so let's do all that we can to get everyone we know at the GBG this year.
Thanks for reading, see you at GBG.

ATTENTION:
For those of you who have already received missions on behalf of the Midwest Alliance, please be advised, my XO, Rogue, and I are going to have to talk about the above rules/point changes. Please roll with us as changes will be made between now and the GBG.
For those of you who have not yet asked for and received a mission, clearly, the above changes create even more opportunity, so let me know how you want to roll and we will get you plugged into a mission or specialist unit.

I played the night game for that two day Resident Evil game Darrin had awhile back. Advice: Make sure the twelve year olds on your team dont illuminate you with their flashlights the second you're within 30 feet of their base and start screaming "HEY THERE'S A GUY CRAWLING UP TO THE BASE!"
Also, refs: Don't wear glow sticks like that year. Everyone was shooting the refs ha

Darrin I just have to geek out for a second here.
Let me get this straight......you offer a great field. Many different obstacles. A castle being built JUST FOR THIS GAME. Absolutely fair pricing. Neat stuff like an old Deuce running around, burgers cooked right there on the grill ON SITE, and TONS of awesome prizes. And for what you offer, REALLY fair pricing. For everything you do for this field and this game, and what little you charge for those services, it is only obvious that you truly CARE about the sport and it's people.
I just want to say thank you to Darrin for making every game my team plays there interesting, fair, and well priced to keep more and more folks coming back.

It's my understanding that no rules were broken. If they were, it will be dealt with within our ranks. Cory stated that he may have gotten a bit carried away, and not been in the most "sportsman" of moods, but he fully believes that he did not break any rules.
I speak to all (players and refs) when I say that knowing the rules is more valuable than having air for your marker. Shooting at the general's tent is not allowed. TAGGING the general's tent is completely legit. So what about shooting players that are near the general's tent?? This is a topic that came up as well. Let's say there are 15 guys surrounding the tent, and they are shooting at you. Are you not allowed to shoot back because at that point you would be shooting TOWARDS the tent? Not necessarily shooting at the tent on purpose, but merely defending yourself. This is yet another gray area in the rules that could use some clarification as we find some that do almost every game. lol
Again, if rules were broken by any member of my team, please let me know and it will be dealt with swiftly I guarantee.
Can't wait for fall GBG!

Also, one to stress for BOTH teams, the General's tent is NOT the insertion area. I saw it at my General's tent, and it was reported from others that it was happening on the opfor as well. I reminded as many as I could to go tag in at the actual insertion area and got little resistance.

I didnt notice the respawn issue Neil, the 3 spawns I had in the morning, I used the insertion area, and I saw other using the respawn A as well, but after I got to be mash, no one aside from headshot victims and people covered in paint got past us, so I wouldnt know if that rule got broken. I always try to play as fair as I can and advise teamates to do the same.. Had a few guys ask if they could insert on us with headshots, knowing it shouldnt be allowed.. We made them walk.
The ONLY issue I noticed was mask safety.. I had to constantly tell kids to keep their masks on, including people in the respawn A, and people who got to our MASH unit. all in all glad to see minimal fighting and cheating from my POV. Great game guys.
Oh and GLC, good job dusting heads out there... I had to let a LOT of players walk by cuz they took head shots... It's like you guys knew we were out there keeping guys on you.

Yeah, Rogue grabbed me and told me to get out of the tent and then I turned and saw like ten blue troops about to drop into play. I grabbed my mask and headed for the brush in the nick of time. I had loaned my air tank to Carson (Cutstep) for his launcher, so I was weaponless. I just tried to rally any troops heading back to our reinsertion point until all the paratroopers were eliminated.
Regarding the issue that some of the paratroopers talked after being shot out, I heard the talking but could not see who it was. I was approached by four separate Midwest Alliance players after all of the paratroopers were eliminated who were upset over that, claiming that more than one of the eliminated players talked after being eliminated. After being out of contact with my team for over ten minutes, I was in too much of a hurry to get caught up to take it up with the refs at that time and I never got back to it.
I understand it's a game, and that things get heated (both sides of players were hot after the close proximity shoot-out) but I also expect that those of us on teams model behavior that sets the standard for play. That means not pressing the line so that a referee has to be the one to step in and put a stop to the action. Save for paint checks that we cannot make ourselves, players should be self refereeing their own words and actions to always be in compliance with the rules and, where the rules are unclear or unspecified, taking the high road, choosing to act as they would desire to see others in their position act.
I do not want this incident to detract from a great day of play on both sides, so let’s agree to let it stand as a learning and growing moment for the good of the game.

So I wasn't there, but since Cory was, I feel like I was (kinda)
What conversation took place between Cory and the other player?
IMHO, if it's a 'how do I score, I forgot the rules" conversation, that's different than a 'I saw these guys, go shoot them' conversation that's usually the reason for dead men don't talk violations.
Based on these rules I can see why there would be a problem:
Eliminated players may not communicate with another player in any other way, including speech, radio use, hand signals, etc. An eliminated player may communicate with a referee at any time.
However, it does not discuss the type of communication, but I believe (based on reading countless rules for other games) it's related to where people are or who to shoot, not how to take a base (which is in the rules) because obviously the players who's base it is aren't going to say anything.
anyhow, since I wasn't there you can ignore me if you want, but figured I'd put in my ideas on the subject, while trying to stay as neutral as possible.

It was an awesome game and I hated those damn choppers, lol. Thanks to Brick and the other Renegade Kings, we had a MASH unit in the area which helped. But it was cool to put faces to names and meet other people along the way. One of the Wild Bunch guys, can't remember his name but he had a tan/green flex, was cool to meet. I was hoping to meet up with Brando but never did, oh well hopefully @ CFC.
But again it was well worth the 4 hour trip even though I showed up late and had to take off early I still had a great time and happy the rain held off.

I had a GREAT time at this GBG, got to do a little bit of everything and just cause all kinds of strife for GLC, good times! Thanks to Darrin and the ST Team for slogging through a wet, muddy weekend so all of us could have a great time playing ball!
For what it's worth, I watched what Stapes did, and as far as I can tell, he never touched anyone with his barrel, he put his hand on shoulders and told people they were out, and they went out, honorably.
I saw nothing but stand-up play all day, well except for one walk on blind firing, but that's forgivable. I can't really comment on the discussion around the MWA base attack other than dead men don't talk, period.

While Rogue was the main enforcer for our side, before giving out orders, I checked to make sure that they had touched the proper reinsertion tent before heading back out into play.
I know that neither Rogue or myself let slide someone just coming to our Command Center and trying to get back in the game, and after about the first hour and a half, it simply stopped being an issue as everyone properly tagged in before heading up to our tent to receive their new marching orders.
I was actually very pleased with how few issues arose, both in what I have heard back from GLC players about the way Midwest Alliance troops conducted themselves and the reports my troops gave me about the GLC.
My thanks to both sides for a game well fought and played with honor.
Playing honorably is the highest calling but also the toughest, as it can mean a long hot walk back to an insertion point somewhere, so I am glad the overwhelming majority of the day bore witness to this high caliber of play from both sides.
Great job!
