During the August 29th Jungel Rumble Game - Stargate - an Olive Proto mask was stolen.
Here's the situation: a friend of mine, who hasn't played in a couple of years, and had never played at Splat Tag before, had his mask stolen.
This is what he said happened:
Around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 29th I left the game we were
playing at the Castle because I ran out of air.
It was about half way through the game. I stopped by the check-in shack
and put my helmet down on one of the tables near the check-in shack.
One of the refs was having a break so he said he'd fill it in a few
minutes. I told him fine and waited around. After I got my fill I
walked down to where we had our equipment. I realized a minute after
going to our equipment area that I'd left my helmet up by the check-
in shack. I went up and it was gone.
The helmet was Proto brand and the various parts were colored either
black or olive with a clear lens. I wrote in small red ink "Marshall"
on the wearers right side of the visor. The word "Proto" was near the
areas where your ears would be on outside of the helmet. Value was $50.
Here's an image of a helmet like mine only the gray areas of the
helmet would be olive.
Now, I think that this is pretty sad that someone would do this to a fellow baller.
There was no way that this could have been mistaken as a prize, or taken by mistake. Someone saw it laying there and took it.
After he noticed it was missing, he let the Splat Tag staff know about it and they made an announcement on the PA.
He does not blame the staff at Splat Tag, more blames himself for making the mistake of walking away from it and trusting the people around him.
This is a good lesson for all of us, where ever you play. Lock up your equipment!
