I have my tippmann a-5 with double trigger and all american smart parts barrel. Wondering what you all thought if I should look at getting another gun that slings more paint or just put money into a e-grip or response trigger. I typically dont like to shoot more paint then I need to do. I have been out of paintball for about a year or two but looking to get into it more heavily. Any ideas are welcome...
Thanks Kyle

Are you looking at another "woodsball" type gun or a "speedball" type gun? If a "woodsball" I would just stick with the A5 because an X7 is basically the same internally (I belive so at least) or get a Phenom, but those are expensive... If a "speedball" try a used cheaper one, or something like an Azodin Blitz to see if you like the feel of them, personally I do and mad the switch from a "woodsball" gun, but others prefer the feel of a rifle type marker in their hands... So basically it's all preference, so I would say just try a bit of everything before you go out and buy a new gun

Well I like playing woodsball not a big fan of speedball but i like to run so thats why i was wondering if i should look at getting something with a little bit more bps type speed??? Oh nice you are in woodland security i am looking at joining the faribault squad...

That's why I used the quotes, either type can be used in either situation and to great success, it just depends on your preferences...
And as far as BPS goes, most (almost all) fields have a BPS cap
around 12 or so, and a Tippy with an egrip and maybe a few cyclone upgrades can easily make that...

For sure... Do you know about splat tags big events dont they allow full auto for those events???

Last Sunday of every month at Splat Tag = Jungle Rumble = Full auto Allowed.

Any other time at Splat Tag.. You can NOT use full auto.

Nick can you use a response trigger at Splat Tag???

I *think* you can use an RT, but only to a point. Darrin would have to make the final ruling on it.

If you're set on spewing more paint, get an electro. It will be more accepted across fields as a whole than an RT will. You'll also gain benefits such as lighter weight, greater consistency (which in turn can be better accuracy when you learn how your shots are traveling), and better air efficiency.

It all depends on what you personally want out of your gun. If you're not the type to lay down a lot of paint, stick with a mechanical gun. If you want a lighter set up than your tippy, look into picking up a ULE Automag. For the most part, they're stupid easy to fix, light, and can lay down paint when you really want to once you get used to the trigger pull. Not to mention it's a heck of a smaller profile than any Tippmann out there. And if center feed isn't your thing , they have offset feed bodies for them too, like your tippman.

That's my two cents at least.

NickVanDick

If it is capped below 12 BPS

Itz ur Fatality
06-17-2010, 10:23 AM
Automags can you cap under 12bps if need to when playing on a field? I really just want like one of each a fast light wieght gun and then also my tippy because I like the feel of it. Its just heavy for when I feel like run and gun.

Drachen

Pure mechanical guns don't have a way to cap it. Though most fields know that, and won't worry about how fast you can shoot it. I highly doubt anyone can shoot more than 8-9 bps consistantly with any pure mech.

Though if you go the Automag route, there's plenty of ways you can increase your BPS. Pick up a RT valve, and crank up the output pressure on your tank. It will basically make the trigger bounce once you sweet spot it, and go full auto (kinda sorta not really). They have E-mag lowers, that can make it a electro marker (or mechanical), and other aftermarket frames like the Uprising frame to also make it a electronic paint slinger.

It all depends on your budget. E-mag lowers seem to run in the $200-300range, RT valves around $80-100, and other aftermarket frames and such can range quite a bit. And you can get some cheaper electronic markers that perform decently as well. Like Wicker said Azodin is putting out some decent guns, for cheap.

1. Do you have/use HPA?

2. What is your budget?

You, sir, sound like the perfect candidate for the world of electros.

And if you do decide to get an electro, I'll be the first to recommend buying used. That way you can pick up a gun that was $800-$1200 just a few years ago and instead get it for $200-$500.

I'd recommend a PM6/7/8 or an older DP Fusion for the $150-$350 price range. And the $300-$500 price range can get you an 06/7/maybe 08 (if your lucky) Ego.

I want to start using HPA looking for a tank currently. Also my budget is under 400 for a gun or upgrading my a-5 more. The 400 I am willing to spend is not including the tank I already have money for that.

That doesn't really help him though, since he has the Tippmann and wants something smaller/lighter/faster.

On the original subject,

If you've got $400, look around for used Planet Eclipse. If you want new, you can scoop up a mini and have cash leftover to put into a hopper (or paint to feed it with).

Thalion is right.

With 400 you can look around for a used 08 Ego. Or easily find an 07 for 350 ish. Or you can buy a Mini brand new for 300 (also great guns) and then put the rest into paint or a loader.

Shopping used is the best way to go. I dont think ive bought a gun brand new since my first marker.

Or get a brand new Etek... just like an 08 but with a warranty!!!

Here's the thing though. You are going to want a hopper correct? Without a nice hopper it doesn't matter that your gun can shoot fast if the paint isn't fed into it fast. That means you should shoot for an 06 or 07 which would be 200-350 range and then pick up a halo or a rotor depending on how much leftover cash you have.

PE stopped making parts for 05-06s Im sure the 07s are next.... My bro's noid just went out on his Nexus so he is saving up for an 09.

Mini PMR anything X7 is good too.

Minis can be had brand new for just over $300 (http://www.ansgear.com/Invert_Mini_Paintball_Guns_s/405.htm)

As for HPA, I personally use and prefer Ninja Air tanks (http://www.ansgear.com/Ninja_Paintball_Tanks_s/1398.htm). My primary is a Ninja 68/4500 and I have one of their 13ci tanks for pump play.

get an ego6 or an etek2 and call it a day.... you will have no issues with anything and its as fast as can be and right now they are sub $300 if you know where to look.... all things being equal (12 bps) the gun that is lighter, smaller, and more efficient is the best gun. there is no difference in accuracy whether it be mech, pump, open or closed bolt so its all about efficiency now and ra sleeve poppits are the best price option for you

hurp durp. seriously do you think that means they all magically disappear? You can find them easily online and at places like air assault paintball. I've owned both a mini and a PMR and an A-5 which is basically an X7 without some tactikewl **** on it to make it weigh more. All these guns are **** compared to an 05 or 06 Ego. They are tanks, they throw paint like no other, and you can maintain them with basically no effort on your part.

depending on how I want to play, I have a X7 full auto and a R/T Alpha black for when I want to run with a full load out Mil-Sim, also carry a Havoc launcher. Now that all with a tac vest with 8 pods and a 68 4500 strapped to my back is really pretty heavy :D and has a tendency to slow me down a bit lol
I have had the Mini now for a year and am finding myself enjoying the fredom it gives you to me able to run with this lite load out, 5 pod pack and the Mini with either a 3000 or a 4500 tank. I find myself more engaged in front line maneuvers being able to duck and weaver alot faster.
Don't get me wrong I really enjoy playing with the Mil-Sim load out during the Giant games, but in the 30 min or hour long games I am finding myself choosing the Mini more and more.

Solution -- Find people who have these guns already. Ask to shoot some paint out of it at the target area or something. See which feels best to you.

Then, when you have a winner, go buy one for yourself.

Wait till you meet the X squad.(Being you are joining WS) Gramps runs a G3 .and I'm sure Mort and Joe Joe are running Alight setup.

My light set up is my x7 with my tank on the Marker with no tach vest. It's light compared to my 20 lbs milsim set up. LOL

I'll throw another marker out there for you to consider....a BT TM7. I picked one up with an Empire hopper for just under $300. I've had it about a month now and I'm really liking it. I used to run an A5 with EGrip, low pressure kit, freak barrel, and saw stock. While it's been my old reliable, it's not seeing much use any more!

Neither of them are up for sale! LOL The TM7 is an Invert Mini in a mil-sim body. The stock slides into the body so if you want to play speedball, it's more than capable, and if you want a stock for woodsball it's there as well. As far as my A5, I'd never get out of it the $$ I've stuck in it, so it will remain my back up marker. I do have my old back up A5 with egrip, car stock, and Freak barrel that I'd be willing to sell! But since you already have an A5, I doubt you'd be interested.
