i saw this video on youtube of someone polishing the internal "housing" of their A5. does that actually do anything? or just cleans it up nicely. here is the link.

I have polished the internals of both of the A5's we have and did notice a difference in the action. It doesn't take that long and costs virtually nothing.
Keep in mind based on the design that some A5's come from the factory in better shape than others so you may or may not see an appreciable difference.

Most of the Chain Gang have there 98's polished. Me personally I didn't see much of a difference but that was mine.

but does it do anything? i really don't see it helping much, is it suppose to allow the bolt to move more freely?

It's to get off any overspray from getting painted at the factory, so yes it will help the bolt move easier and can preserve the orings... I did it on mine awhile back, not too much, but enough, and it seemed like it helped a little bit.

Yes.
It does help. i have done it to my 98c and i have noticed a difference. I also have a double trigger and i took out the return spring for the trigger, i can almost walk it. I think all i need is a trigger stop now. But some tweaking here and there and it gets better.

instead of taking the spring out replace it with one from a pen, i did that to my A5's double trigger and i love it!
here is the video i followed.

Yea. ive read about that and stuff. But it still does push the trigger back in place. With the 98 i can just take it out and the sear still resets the trigger, so in the end it is lighter.

ahhh, i don't have a double trigger on my 98, i put one on my A5 though. my 98 is pretty much completed except a double trigger and the cyclone feed. but i never thought of a double trigger on it until now. hmm thanks i'll keep that in mind.

On the newer tippmann's I would definitely crack open the marker and look for over-spray on the internal chambers, but use 000, or 0000 steel wool and go easy, you want it smooth to the touch, you don't want to remove metal.
Older Tippmann's had annodized uni-bodies so this was a non-issue, but some freakin' genius there thought clam-shell designs were the way to go and their QA checks aren't what they used to be so like I said, always crack open a new Tippy and check for over-spray, if you don't see any, don't polish.
